Symbolism in Fashion- A spiritual journey

The research is based on preserving the Indian culture by bringing the correct meaning of Hindu symbolism -Swastika into the contemporary world of fashion. The collection deals with the importance of Swastika that has been negatively influenced globally. Therefore, the main aim of this research is to interpret Indian symbolism and cultural rituals, define them and blend them to contemporary fashion in order to preserve them. Preservation does not just happen by using the symbolism; it needs to be practiced daily in everyday life (Sadhguru, 2019).

The dissertation explored an extensive literature review to identify the ongoing variation in the usage of the swastika within the fashion industry and other fields and, later, evaluate the spiritual relationships between European suits and Hinduism.

Dissertation book

The dissertation book is a hand bound with an essence of pure wood. The binding technique used here is Coptic stitch. The pages are organic recyclable pulp paper.

The book inspiration was taken from ancient Sanskrit books of India which were written on leaf with wooden cover. They used ink and a feather to write followed by various drawings with explanations.
