“Composition d’esprit” is inspired and based on kid’s scribbles and colorful doodles. The primary goal of this concept was to illustrate silhouettes, leading to a wearable collection based on textile and surface designing. I started by organizing a drawing workshop, where I invited kids aged from 3 to 8 years old and offered them a bunch of colors and blank sheets. The study from the workshop understands the way kids approached the color pens and drew random lines, choosing any color possible.
It gave me the ultimate creation of composition of unusual doodles. They drew hand palm, fingers, random faces - not properly colored, butterflies, tree, and various things they drew on the page which they observed in their daily routine. The scribbled lines and bright colors were the core elements in my designs. The scribbles they created using colors usually had no shapes, no patterns, and came from an innocent point of view. I wanted to create Textile Print designs for my collection using any medium of surface Designing.
The kids drew random shapes, broken lines with a story in mind that couldn’t be achieved due to lack of drawing skills. Those shapes, forms and broken lines were moreover my inspiration for the silhouettes. I used unusual, overlapping and unrestricted surface to expand my limitations. Followed by creative pattern making, I acquired the composition of creative minds onto Garment making. Hence, titled as Composition d’esprit (French) means Composition of minds in English.
